Environmental Project Coordinator

to work on Electric Utility Construction Projects. This is a field position, and candidates must have experience with environmental compliance in relation to land clearing and linear construction projects. What You Will Do

Regulatory Compliance

Provides Environmental Compliance and construction oversight on transmission Site Development and Linear Transmission Line construction projects for Electric Transmission infrastructure.

Provides Environmental Oversight and compliance/inspections associated with Transmission Capital Projects and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).

Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for wetland access, protected species, wood and debris disposal, site control and soil disturbance.

Ensure that all field operations are in compliance with permits, including road use permits, natural resource protection act permits, Corps of Engineers permits, etc.

Document pre- and post-work field conditions to make sure that sites are in compliance with permits and environmental regulations and there are no conditions that require mitigation or restoration.

Field Operations

Performs all required erosion and sediment, stormwater management and pollution prevention inspections for applicable construction projects.

Interprets complex plans and drawings.

Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations.

Crew Oversight

Responsible for attending pre-construction meetings, constructability meetings, and status meetings as directed.

Manage and oversee site development crews. Responsible for providing oversight for sediment and erosion control or Best Management Practice (BMP) contractors to ensure all measures are installed as per the approved plan.

Observe that wetlands & sensitive areas' identification are in place and that crews are aware of them prior to entering such areas.

Stakeholder & Public Relations

Monitors and reports to Project Management on status of construction units estimated and actuals billed to date of project.

Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the public.

Subject Matter Expert Consulting

Assist in developing recommendations on future R-O-W maintenance requirements.

Identify Hazard Trees and prescribe vegetation management plans for construction sites.

Additional Responsibilities

Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations for the organization.

Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate or bachelor's degree in environmental science, Construction Management, Building Science, or a degree related to these fields.

1-5 years' experience in Site Development work, permitting utility construction, Environmental Compliance, or a related field.

Solid understanding of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Service (NPDES) Construction General Permit (CGP) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) implementation and inspections.

Desire to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.

Strong public relation skills/ability to interface with the public.

Willingness to work alone.

Basic computer skills.

Valid driver's license.

Amazing Qualifications

Substantial amount of background in the Electric Transmission Construction, Pipeline, and/or Utility field.

SWPPP book knowledge.

CESSWI (Certified Erosion and Sediment/Stormwater Inspector).

Previous construction crew oversight experience.

GIS Experience.

Strong knowledge of ANSI Z133 safety standards.

Having a military background is a plus.

Bi-Lingual speaking (English and Spanish) is a plus.

Working Environment Work with a team and alone; primarily in an outdoor field environment and/or low light conditions; foot patrol of energy corridors in the vicinity of power lines and/or pipelines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking/hiking on various surfaces; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, and all types of weather extremes including snow, ice, fog, humidity, and temperature variations; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions, domestic and wild animals, insects, and poisonous plants. Other working conditions may include time in a vehicle or limited indoor time.

Physical The employee must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive movements; to carry, push and/or pull light to heavy weights; to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally; to operate equipment and communicate with the public; to see and hear in normal range with or without correction; to operate field equipment including handheld computer, range finder, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
