Responsibilities Culture

Champion and drive a safety culture for 700+ manufacturing employees

Identify safety and environmental hazards inherent in operations and establish guidelines to protect associates

Build partnerships across all levels of the manufacturing plant to foster culture improvement

Engage employees through learning teams, communications, and recognition programs

Enhance plant safety culture through initiatives to increase engagement and ownership on the line

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and mentor a team of 3-5 health & safety professionals

Mentor operational leadership in manufacturing safety best practices and technical solutions

Cross-Functional & Leadership Engagement

Coach and influence plant leadership and employees on safe work practices and risk management

Manage cross-functional EHS projects with defined goals, budgets, and timelines

Partner with manufacturing leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles

Regulatory and Technical

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations

Conduct audits and inspections to evaluate EHS program effectiveness

Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis with actionable follow-ups

Identify training needs and ensure compliance through effective delivery and tracking

Analyze safety data to identify trends and drive proactive risk mitigation

Implement predictive safety analytics to forecast and prevent high-risk activity incidents

Drive improvements and workstation redesigns to eliminate hazards

Technical Solutions Development

Machine safeguarding: Install or upgrade physical barriers, light curtains, and interlocks on manufacturing equipment

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program enhancement: Develop and implement updated LOTO procedures for new or modified machinery and equipment, including training and audits

Ergonomic assessment and workstation redesign: Implement ergonomic improvements to reduce musculoskeletal disorder risks

Fall protection program development: Engineer and install fall protection systems and provide training on proper equipment usage

Forklift and pedestrian safety: Improve traffic flow and visibility with barriers and alert systems

Incident investigation and corrective action: Lead projects to reduce specific incident types through root-cause analysis and targeted control measures

Environmental

Collaborate with operations to minimize hazardous waste and improve recycling processes

Implement engineering controls to reduce emissions and control hazards related to operations

Oversee sustainability efforts including waste reduction, air emissions control, and energy efficiency

Continuous Improvement

ESH software implementation: Digitize safety inspections, incident reporting, and compliance tracking

ORM and OHSMS program enhancement: Improve maturity of EHS management system elements such as hazard analysis, risk assessment and employee engagement

Predictive safety analytics: Use data to forecast high-risk areas and implement preventive controls

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering

8+ years of EHS experience in a medium-to-large manufacturing environment

Recognized certifications in safety and manufacturing such as CSP, CIH, CMfgA/T, or equivalent; familiarity with ISO standards

Strong understanding of general industry standards and best management practices for manufacturing safety

Preferred Qualifications

MS in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering

Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., Enablon, Origami, Gen Suite)

Proficiency in lean manufacturing tools (5S, value stream mapping, standard work)

Strong analytical skills and experience with safety data systems

Proven success in leading culture change and improving safety performance

Knowledge and application of ergonomic principles in workstation design

Understanding of production environments including safety/guarding requirements

Experience with fabrication, welding, assembly, or coil winding

Experience with lifting equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and hoists

Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, FMEA, and Pareto analysis
