We’re looking for a dedicated Ambulatory Clinical Educator (RN) to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, the Clinical Educator provides staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. Each supports the development of nursing and fosters empowerment as a result of knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced-based nursing practice. This occurs via facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. The Ambulatory Clinical Educator will work closely with the SHMG Director of Nursing and Nurse Residency Coordinator to lead the SHMG RN Residency Program. In addition, as a role model, the Clinical Educator is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate within Saratoga Hospital to meet the needs of the diverse units across the entities of Saratoga Hospital. What You’ll Do

Educator

Develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates education plans based on identified needs of the learner and organization related to initial and ongoing competencies, and educational programs and professional development Uses a variety of methodologies to incorporate adult learning principles in engaging the learner for desired outcomes

Consultant

Collaborates as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development Responds to regulatory mandates and identified needs to promote quality patient care and safety

Researcher

Supports and participates in the integration of research into practice Interprets, communicates and incorporates research findings into program planning and staff development

Facilitator

Facilitates the adult learning process, coordinates educational activities by identifying and recruiting internal and external resources

SHMG Nurse Residency Coordinator

Works with the Nurse Residency Coordinator and SHMG Director of Nursing Practice to coordinate rotations and education Provides supervision, coaching, and evaluation for selected graduate nurses or professional learners Assists with recruitment of residents and develops innovative strategies for retention Develops and implements program curriculum using AAACN guidelines and best practice Oversees resident progression throughout the program

Change Agent

Develops programs in response to changes in nursing practice, aligning with organizational missions, values and goals to promote a safe and healthy work environment Forms programs based on review of risk management findings, quality improvement data, regulatory standards, current best practices and administrative input

Leader

Leads committees, workgroups and projects to implement educational activities and builds collaborative relationships

Special Projects

Collaborates in special projects to support the organizational strategic plan Participates in committees, task forces, and projects assigned to clinical education

Additional Responsibilities

On-Line Learning System: coordinates with Education Specialist to use Health Stream effectively and capture learning activities and compliance Laboratory Collaboration and Education: collaborates with the lab to reduce testing errors; acts as a superuser for point of care testing and assists with annual competency for POC testing Orientation and Training Coordination: develops standardized training processes in the offices Epic: collaborates with Epic Analysts and assists with Epic training for new hires

What You Bring

BSN or MSN required, or actively pursuing MSN Minimum of 5 years in clinical nursing, preferably Physician Practice Nursing Minimum of 2 years in clinical education, staff development or teaching Current NYS nursing license Why Saratoga Hospital
