Overview
Field/Onsite Machinist C at GE Vernova. Machinist technicians are expected to perform various operations at customer sites inside a power plant. Power plants may be nuclear fueled.
Job Description Techs must operate all types of machine tools and balancing equipment, involving close tolerance work, intricate set ups, and development. They must be able to diagnose and correct mechanical trouble on mechanical and electrical equipment. They should be able to completely disassemble, realign and reassemble steam turbine components, replacing or repairing the various parts as required. Included in these operations, among other things are: removing and reinstalling turbine wheels, re-bucketing of rotors, nozzle scrapping, operate machine tools as necessary to repair parts, silver solder, brazing and red dye inspection as required. They should be able to machine or build parts from samples or drawings, set up and lay out work from prints.

Essential Responsibilities
Works with mechanical power plant equipment including but not limited to Steam Turbines, Valves, Casings, and various equipment.
Assists in taking and recording various measurements / runouts of steam components
Report any conflicts to the Shift Supervisor
Complete daily point of work risk assessments and Safety Observations
Record and report daily time
Aggressively maintain a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of assigned work area and comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policies
Perform tooling set-up and maintenance activities as directed
Performs Lock Out Tag Out duties in accordance with site procedures
Perform other duties as requested, as well as all reasonable requests from the OSS supervisor or work-leader
Eligibility Requirements
High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years classroom or on the job Machinist experience.
Must possess a valid driver's license
Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts
Ability and willingness to climb ladders and stairs as required
Ability and willingness to walk/stand for up to 12 hours as required
Ability and willingness to lift to 50 pounds as required
Ability to pass a drug test
Ability to pass a background check and obtain nuclear clearance
Ability and willingness to complete a physical and other evaluations for hearing and respirator use upon hire and annually thereafter
Ability to incorporate teamwork into daily operating and safety work tasks
Ability to use and read measurement devices such as inside/outside micrometers and dial calipers/indicators
Ability to interpret technical instructions
The pay for this position is $36.72 per hour. This position is also eligible for bonuses or other financial incentives. The posting is expected to close on 10/1/2025.
