Wood is currently recruiting for an entry level field engineer interested in solving vibration and machinery dynamic problems. The
Vibration Engineer
performs data collection, troubleshooting and problem-solving activities for machinery, piping and structural systems across industries. This position supports the Vibration, Dynamics and Noise team in our Houston, TX office. This is a full-time role with up to 50% travel to client sites in the U.S. and South America. Wood is a global organization with a niche set of services in vibration, dynamics and noise. This role offers advancement opportunities as the business grows and a chance to work on projects locally and globally. It is suitable for a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual interested in consultative work. Employing entity: BMA Solutions Inc. Multiple positions available. Travel: Up to 50% travel to client sites required within the U.S. and South America (onshore and offshore). Responsibilities
Perform vibration analysis by acquiring vibration data using data acquisition hardware and software applications Evaluate operational issues by assessing vibration data, process conditions, machine performance, maintenance data and customer communication Troubleshoot piping systems, structures, compressors, pumps, turbines, gearboxes, motors, engines and other equipment for land-based and offshore facilities Balance rotating equipment Interact with operations, maintenance and inspection personnel Perform equipment vibration and performance assessments for rotating equipment packages Prepare timely and accurate technical reports to professional standards Adhere to Wood – Vibration, Dynamics & Noise (VDN) HSSE policies and best practices at all work sites Demonstrate strong verbal communication and the ability to adapt to different work environments and customer styles Establish strong working relationships with customers and maintain a customer-focused approach Qualifications
Mechanical Engineer or Technologist (BSME or BSMET) New graduate or 0-2 years of related experience Strong knowledge of vibration fundamentals and interest in investigating and troubleshooting vibration problems; understanding of performance, reliability and maintenance issues Exposure to vibration data acquisition systems and software preferred Excellent communication and analytical skills; proficiency with computer systems and software Up to 50% travel; travel primarily within the continental United States with some international travel; offshore facilities included Understanding of rotating machinery including compressors, pumps, turbines, gearboxes, motors and engines Interest in acoustic theory, multiphase flow and transients Proficiency in standard Windows software; familiarity with vibration data acquisition software Valid driver’s license and good driving history Current passport with eligibility to travel About Us
