Structural Engineer

Company Description Field & Tung Structural Engineers is an engineering team specialized in solving structural challenges for clients. Our consulting services include the design of new buildings, additions to existing buildings, secondary structural systems, site structures, as well as restoration and remedial structural work. We excel in assessing and investigating existing buildings to understand and solve structural distress issues. Our clients include architects, building owners, contractors, and property managers. We work on both public sector and privately owned projects in the DC metropolitan region, with specialties in historic and modern building framing systems.

Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Structural Engineer located in Washington, DC. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing new buildings, additions to existing buildings, and secondary structural systems. The role involves conducting assessments and investigations of existing structures to diagnose and solve structural distress issues. The Structural Engineer will work as part of a design team, often collaborating with architects and other subconsultants on larger projects.

Qualifications

Proficiency in structural design of new buildings and additions

Experience in assessments and investigations of existing structures

Strong understanding of both historic and modern building framing systems

Ability to work collaboratively with design teams and communicate effectively with clients

A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Familiarity with relevant building codes and standards

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Experience in project management is a plus

Proficiency with structural analysis and design software
