Technical Performance Manager
to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and safety across all RNG facilities.
This role provides technical and analytical leadership across commissioning, optimization, and ongoing operations. This role focuses on identifying performance gaps, driving engineering solutions, and guiding continuous improvement through data, process insight, and hands‑on collaboration while driving safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Champion process safety
by integrating hazard identification, risk assessment, and safe operating practices into commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization activities.
Evaluate facility performance data and operational trends to identify inefficiencies, reliability risks, and optimization opportunities.
Develop and maintain fleet‑level KPIs for production efficiency, downtime causes, and energy intensity.
Provide commissioning support during project construction and startup, ensuring smooth transition into sustained operations.
Conduct site evaluations to assess process performance, safety compliance, and equipment health.
Lead root cause analyses for process and equipment failures, develop corrective and preventive actions, and ensure follow‑through.
Collaborate with engineering and construction teams on design reviews, equipment selection, and control strategies to support long‑term reliability.
Recommend process tuning and system adjustments to improve throughput, gas quality, and energy efficiency.
Support reliability initiatives such as predictive maintenance programs using vibration, thermal, and performance trend data.
Develop improvement proposals with detailed technical justifications, ROI analysis, and project execution strategies.
Support management of change (MOC) processes and ensure modifications meet safety and compliance standards.
Help standardize operational best practices, reliability tracking, and performance benchmarking across the growing RNG fleet.
Collaborate with operations, compliance, and development teams to ensure safe, sustainable, and high‑performance operations.
Participate in environmental compliance reviews and ensure control systems align with permit and emissions requirements.
Provide technical training and mentorship to site operators on process optimization, system tuning, and alarm response protocols.
Collaborate with finance and supply chain teams to evaluate lifecycle cost impacts of materials, consumables, and maintenance strategies.
Coordinate with safety and environmental teams to ensure incident investigations include technical failure analysis and corrective actions.
Review SCADA and PLC data historians to validate alarm settings, automation logic, and process efficiency under varying load conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering — or equivalent field experience in gas processing and power generation.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), landfill gas‑to‑energy, biogas upgrading, or industrial gas compression systems.
Technical Skills:
Proven experience with gas separation systems
Strong understanding of gas conditioning systems
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and PLC logic.
Proficient in SCADA analysis and data historian tools
Operational Expertise:
Hands‑on commissioning experience for new facilities
Experience performing or overseeing root cause failure analysis
Working knowledge of applicable EPA and state environmental regulations for RNG operations.
Familiarity with management of change (MOC)
Proficiency in developing cost‑benefit analyses and capital improvement justifications for technical projects.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and documentation abilities with attention to technical precision.
Excellent cross‑functional communicator with engineering, construction, compliance, and field teams.
Comfortable balancing field presence with analytical office work.
