As an Amazon Logistics (AMZL) Operations Engineer, you will lead cross-functional projects, developing next-generation sortation and distribution solutions. You will be involved in planning and implementing facility network infrastructure, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and initiatives, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely handovers. Key responsibilities include: Managing the lifecycle of challenging projects independently, acting as the owner of project objectives across organizations or geographies. Participating in engineering reviews and influencing system and component design, architecture, and processes. Partnering with stakeholders and vendors to prioritize projects, set milestones, and resolve dependencies and issues. Leading system and equipment design, installation, and qualification efforts, including troubleshooting and optimizing processes. Conducting effective meetings, documenting decisions, and aligning expectations. Communicating project status, risks, and mitigation strategies clearly and regularly to leadership. Articulating system designs, specifications, and capabilities to internal teams. Managing change controls, purchase orders, and invoices efficiently. Building strong stakeholder relationships and leading process improvements to enhance team efficiency and project delivery. Traveling domestically up to 80%, with potential for extended periods. A day in the life Managing project quality, coordinating site activities, analyzing progress, resolving delays, and supporting system testing and training are typical daily tasks. About The Team Our team owns engineering, project execution, and handover, continuously improving systems and processes through lessons learned and innovation. We foster collaboration, support, and development to meet our customer commitments. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM field. 3+ years of experience in project or process engineering, project management, or manufacturing engineering. Experience managing cross-functional projects involving automated equipment or systems. Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360). Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or related STEM field. Experience in operations management within distribution centers, automation, or technical projects. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or automation solutions like conveyors, sorters, robotic work cells. Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet.
