Corporate Quality Engineer - Automotive
Job Description
The Corporate Quality Engineer - Automotive is responsible for collaborating with OEMs and Tier1s to address and resolve quality issues during product development and throughout the program lifecycle. The focus will be on Integrated Center Stack Display, Instrument Cluster Display, and HVAC components.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with OEMs and Tier1s to resolve quality issues during product development and program lifetime.
Conduct root cause analysis and compile reports to minimize defects and failure rates.
Perform product testing in the field and analysis to ensure quality standards are met.
Establish containment activities at customer locations.
Provide hands‑on support for software debugging, soldering, ECU flashing, and firmware updates in vehicles.
Participate in global meetings virtually to support the team.
Travel within the USA and Mexico, approximately 15-20%, to address quality issues related to GM business.
Support the team during issues analysis, root cause identification, technical solution implementation, and lessons learned reports using methodologies such as 5 WHYs analysis and 8D.
Essential Skills
Engineering degree in Electrical (preferred) or Mechanical.
5+ years of experience in quality within the automotive industry, particularly with APQP.
Proficient in Microsoft products.
Experience with Center Stack Displays, HVAC Switches, and Instrument Cluster Displays.
Thorough knowledge of GM manufacturing methods and processes.
Experience working with GM's Supplier portal.
Familiarity with lab diagnostics equipment and ability to collect data logs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with BarTender Barcode Software.
Familiarity with QNX is a plus.
Work Environment The role involves working in an office environment with 15-20% travel to manufacturing plants to support quality issues.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, Michigan.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
