FACILITIES MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR/ PLANT OPS 10+ years of facility maintenance leadership experience in a healthcare setting; prefer a certified healthcare facility manager. This position will be based at Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services (HCBHS) but will spend up to 25% of the time at AL Clinical School (ACS). The FMD provides direct oversight and management of Facility Services consisting of Maintenance, Plant Operations, and coordinates Environmental Services. Coordinates all plant operations to ensure compliance with Department of Mental Health, JCAHO, CMS, and other regulatory agency standards. About Hill Crest Behavioral Health Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services is a free-standing psychiatric hospital offering services to adolescents and adults from the surrounding Birmingham community, with an average census of 150 patients. Licensure/Certification/Registration Bachelors degree in Engineering from a recognized college or university or a related field preferred 10+ years of facility maintenance leadership experience in a healthcare setting; prefer a certified healthcare facility manager, required. Current Driver's license, required. Specialized Skills and Knowledge Demonstrated skill in planning, organizing, and achieving objectives. Recognized ability to lead and motivate staff. Working knowledge of health care sanitation and plant operations applicable to patient safety, infection prevention, and staff education on these issues. Knowledge of hospital/health care related to JCAHO and regulatory standards; ability to educate staff on these issues. Knowledge of JCAHO standards and State Regulations regarding EOC and Life Safety. Good interpersonal communication skills, ability to assume responsibility, make decisions, and be discreet in business dealings. Ability to work independently with little supervision over daily tasks. Basic computer skills desirable. Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities Note: The following duties are described in terms of responsibilities without a table layout: Safety Officer: Serves as a facility Safety Officer responsible for hospital disaster, fire, and safety programs; chairs the Safety Committee; conducts fire drills as required; coordinates safety inspections; establishes procedures for promoting safe working conditions; investigates accidents and recommends measures to eliminate hazards; takes action to correct and prevent hazards (approximately 45% of time). Maintenance/Environmental Services: Supervises Maintenance staff, overtime management, evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions; supervises urgent hospital repairs; coordinates work schedules; develops departmental budget and directs expenditures; monitors spending; schedules annual fire equipment inspections; performs regular inspections of building, equipment, new construction, and renovations; forecasts costs and repairs; develops programs for maintenance of building, grounds, and equipment; recommends cost containment measures; keeps Risk Management apprised of repairs and safety issues; maintains documentation on routine checks and preventive maintenance; ensures compliance with Environment of Care Plans; assists in repairs and construction as needed; operates tools and machinery to maintain the building; supervises Environment Service Manager in coordinating housekeeping, employee matters, and equipment maintenance (approximately 45% of time). Attends mandatory in-services as required; completes applicable competencies (approximately 5% of time). Performs other duties as assigned (approximately 5% of time).
