FACILITIES MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR/ PLANT OPS

– HSD/GED and Vocational Training or BS Degree (Engineering or related field preferred) along with 10+ years experienced multi-certified tradesman. 10+ years of facility maintenance leadership experience in a healthcare setting; preferred certified healthcare facility manager. This position will be based at Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services (HCBHS) but will spend up to 25% of the time at AL Clinical School (ACS). The Facilities Maintenance Director (FMD) provides direct oversight and management of Facility Services consisting of Maintenance, Plant Operations, and coordinates Environmental Services. Coordinates all plant operations to ensure compliance with Department of Mental Health, JCAHO, CMS, and other regulatory agency standards. Recognized ability to lead and motivate staff. Working knowledge of health care sanitation and plant operations applicable to patient safety, infection prevention, and ability to educate staff on these issues. Knowledge of hospital and/or health care related to JCAHO and regulatory standards, and ability to communicate and educate staff on these issues. Knowledge of JCAHO standards and State Regulations regarding EOC and Life Safety. Good interpersonal communication skills, ability to assume responsibility, make appropriate decisions, and be discreet in business dealings. Ability to work independently with little supervision over daily tasks. Basic computer skills desirable. Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities Safety Officer: Serves as a facility Safety Officer, responsible for the hospital disaster, fire, and safety programs, interpreting and enforcing regulations to increase general safety; chairs the Safety Committee; conducts fire drills; coordinates regular safety inspections; establishes procedures for promoting safe working conditions; investigates accidents and recommends measures to eliminate hazards; takes action to correct and prevent hazards. Maintenance/Environmental Services: Supervises Maintenance staff, oversees overtime and time recording, evaluations, counseling, and disciplinary actions; supervises urgent hospital repairs; coordinates work schedules; develops departmental budget and monitors spending; schedules annual inspection of fire equipment; performs regular inspections of building, equipment, new construction, and renovation programs; forecasts and calculates cost and repairs; develops programs to maintain building, grounds, and equipment; recommends cost containment measures; keeps Director of Risk Management and Performance Improvement apprised of repairs and safety issues; maintains documentation on routine checks and preventive maintenance; ensures compliance with Environment of Care Plans. Attends mandatory in-services; completes applicable competencies. Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
