Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Principal Engineer to design and integrate critical mechanical systems across large‑scale aerospace projects. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, suppliers, and certification authorities to drive innovation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Pay Range Executive Recruiting Group pay range:
Base pay range $190,000.00/yr – $230,000.00/yr
Duties Design and spatial integration of electric rotating machines, electric actuation systems for flight control propulsion, and other traditional mechanical systems (Landing Gear Systems, Door Systems, etc.) while ensuring compliance with performance and safety standards. Mentor and coach a multidisciplinary team of mechanical system engineers, ensuring development and delivery of high‑quality engineering solutions. Select and manage relationships with system suppliers, ensuring delivery of components compliant with technical requirements. Facilitate communication between internal teams, suppliers, and certification authorities, aligning on system specifications and project goals.
Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience. 18+ years of hands‑on experience in mechanical systems development and testing for aerospace or related fields in military, commercial, or business aircraft development programs. 13+ years of experience managing engineering teams. Familiarity with FAA and EASA certification processes. In‑depth knowledge of Part 23/25/27 and/or 29 regulatory requirements, including system development per ARP‑4754A and ARP‑4761. Experience with all phases of aircraft development from concept to certification and entry into service. Experience with system or equipment (Hardware and Software) development per ARP‑4754A, DO‑254, DO‑178C/DO‑331. Qualification of equipment per DO‑160D/E/F/G and other MIL‑STD. Strong understanding of mechanical system design, stress analysis, reliability, safety, integration, and testing. Experience with both clean‑sheet design and product improvement post‑certification. Experience in electro‑mechanical systems and integration of software‑driven systems.
