This position is based at our Hampton Farms location in Garysburg, NC. Purpose The Production Manager leads the daily food processing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role is hands-on and responsible not only for overall plant performance—safety, productivity, and people leadership—but also directly oversees the facility’s Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs to maintain compliance with FDA/USDA/FSMA regulations, customer expectations, and internal standards. Responsibilities Leads daily plant operations including production, logistics, and maintenance functions with a team of 25 employees. Drives high performance across safety, quality, throughput, yield, and cost metrics. Ensures production schedules are met efficiently while maintaining product integrity. Promotes and enforces a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Collaborates with HR on hiring, performance management, and training of plant personnel. Maintains equipment and facility ensuring optimal working order through proactive maintenance practices. Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Owns and manages the plant’s Food Safety Plan (HACCP, Preventive Controls, GMPs). Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA, FSMA, SQF standards if applicable). Leads internal and external audits; ensure timely resolution of corrective actions. Monitors and improves quality control programs, including raw material inspections, in-process checks, and finished product testing. Trains and mentor staff in food safety, sanitation practices, and quality procedures. Manage Quality Assurance team and decisions. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration Sets clear expectations and provides leadership across all plant functions. Fosters an environment of teamwork, accountability, and mutual respect. Acts as the liaison between corporate leadership and plant-level operations. Provides regular performance updates, KPIs, and operational reports. Manages plant operations and capabilities to align customer demand with production capacity as operations will report to this person. Supports planning and scheduling efforts to ensure alignment with major orders or promotional pushes. Participates in forecasting and inventory management discussions to minimize stockouts, or overproduction. Maintain inventory quality control, integrity, and levels for products while practicing FIFO product rotation to ensure freshness and superior quality and maintain production supply levels. Performance analysis, forecasting, planning, P&L, improving & keeping track of quality, quantity, stock levels, costs, equipment, budgeting, and efficiency. Analyze & project equipment needs, manage/control budgeting & monitor all related expenses. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Proven sales experience with food manufacturing, or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) preferred Food safety and quality assurance program management experience Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and CRM tools Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment Fast-paced, compliance-driven environment, balancing time between the production floor and office. The role involves ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency through strict hygiene protocols, team leadership, and continuous improvement practices. Tools like ERP/MES systems and KPI dashboards support daily operations, while collaboration across departments is key to meeting production goals. Travel Occasional travel to attend trade shows, visit key accounts, or meet with internal teams at headquarters or other facilities.
