Overview The Mine Manager will be responsible for the day to day activities of Underground Mining for the Cisco Mine, ensuring that the mining operations are maintained in a safe and compliant manner to achieve production, cost, and quality goals.

Key Responsibilities

Supervising all mining operations and mine employees, changing methods and operations as necessary to ensure adequate supplies of crude ore are available for processing plants.

Evaluates the use of mine labor, equipment, and materials to achieve efficient and best cost operations.

Directs all departmental operations in such a manner that all projects are completed in a timely manner, employees are managed effectively and fairly, and all records are maintained accurately.

Responsibility for all mining operations, equipment, employee safety, and issues affecting the mining operation.

Executes and reconciles short term mine plans

Trouble-shooting mine problems as they arise.

Maintaining quality standards through procedures and audits.

Responsible for counseling, hiring and terminating employees as needed.

Promote safety consciousness and good housekeeping, and maintain a safe work environment. Direct departmental safety initiatives. Promote Imerys’ safety protocols with special focus on the mine related best practices and initiatives

Direct, Monitor and ensure compliance for all blasting activities and management of blasting supplies

Act as a member of the Mine Rescue Team and participate in the training

Responsible for underground surveying

Evaluates mine ventilation needs, follows ventilation plan and makes necessary adjustments

Skills & Attributes

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with people from all levels of the organization, vendors, customers and MSHA.

Able to track, monitor and report on the status of key projects, and on the performance of the mine.

Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively and to meet deadlines.

Technical knowledge of mining and mining equipment.

Proficient in various software applications for generating spreadsheets and presentations

Good leadership, interpersonal, organizational skills with the ability to effectively supervise diverse work groups.

Education/Experience

BS degree in a technical field (preferably geology, mine or geological engineering)

OR

minimum 10 years experience working in mining

State Blasting License (or the ability to obtain one within 30 days)

3+ years supervisory experience in mining, quarrying, maintenance, or processing environment.

Previous experience in an underground mine environment is preferred.
