Required Skills and Knowledge: Skilled in installing, repairing and troubleshooting piping and HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment and controls. Able to read and interpret blueprints. Performs highly skilled pipefitting and installs, repairs, adjusts, or modifies all types of refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and ventilating equipment; replaces or repairs supporting systems such as electrostatic filters, pneumatic and electronic controls, pumps and fan motors. Performs pipefitting and installs and repairs steam lines, expansion joints, traps, regulators, bearings and valves. Plans, implements and performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Inspects installed equipment for proper assembly of components and compliance with technical orders, blueprints, specifications, handbooks and established procedures. Ensures safe operational standards. Reads and interprets sketches, blueprints and layouts, determining amount of material and time involved; makes cost estimates; compiles reports, requisitions, work orders, inventory lists and project reports/records. May be required to instruct semi-skilled and skilled HVAC technician/steamfitters and trades people; assist in training new personnel; coordinate work with other trades. Maintains housekeeping conditions as prescribed by area. Performs other related duties as assigned. Employment details
