HDR NY/NJ Transportation Business Group is seeking a Civil/Highway Project Engineer to work on Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build Projects. The primary duties include leading teams to produce design criteria, plans, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications for highway and/or civil projects. The candidate should be a team player, collaborative, and familiar with local and national codes, standards, and specifications. Key Responsibilities
Lead technical delivery of projects from concept to final design. Work independently or collaboratively within a team. Participate in design meetings ensuring quality and consistency. Mentor and review junior staff work. Coordinate workload and ensure timely, within-budget project completion. Handle project responsibilities including financial aspects, progress reports, and scheduling. Preferred Qualifications
MS or BS in Civil Engineering or related field. 5+ years in roadway design, including geometry, utilities, drainage, grading, and traffic management. NY or NJ PE license preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, Inroads, and Microsoft Office. Experience with local clients such as PANYNJ, NYSDOT, NJDOT, etc. Strong technical skills and leadership in highway and civil design. Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor. Active in professional engineering communities. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Experience in roadway engineering design. PE license. Hands-on CAD experience with highways and roads software. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience with urban and rural highway projects. Our Values and Benefits
