Responsibilities
Design and develop comprehensive MEP systems for renovation projects, ensuring compliance with NYC building codes and regulations.
Conduct site surveys and assessments of existing buildings to evaluate current MEP systems and propose upgrades or modifications.
Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software tools.
Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other project team members to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into overall building designs.
Perform energy modeling and analysis to optimize building performance and achieve sustainability goals.
Develop cost estimates and equipment schedules for MEP systems.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure proper installation and commissioning of MEP systems.
Conduct quality control reviews of design documents and construction submittals.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and drafters.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and code requirements.
Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements and design solutions.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
Troubleshoot and resolve MEP-related issues during construction and post-occupancy phases.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineering (PE) license in the state of New York. (Highly preferred)
Minimum of 10 years of experience in MEP engineering, with a focus on commercial and residential projects.
Extensive knowledge of NYC Building Code, Energy Code, and other relevant regulations.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other industry-standard design software.
Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems for various building types.
