Position summary: The Electrical Designer generates design documents with minimal input from a Project Engineer or Senior Designer, working from sketches, marked-up drawings, and vendor information provided by engineering staff. Responsibilities
Conduct all activities in a safe and compliant manner, following company and industry requirements. Follow established AutoCAD standards as outlined in Roeslein’s Engineering/Drafting guidelines. Independently develop the majority of project documents using reference material from past projects. Complete drawings and related documents accurately and on schedule. Create and maintain drawing files using the Drawing Control Index (DCI). Prepare and assemble bidding and construction documents. Create panel layouts, schematics, conduit, cable tray, and wire schedules with minimal input from a Project Engineer. Develop power wire schedules, one-line drawings, and loop diagrams. Design instrumentation and device stands. Interface with vendors, prepare purchase orders, and verify materials at vendor and RMF locations. Support shipping department with tagging and cataloging items. Coordinate with assembly teams and panel shops. Perform field verification and site visits to confirm adherence to design and document changes. Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% per year. Regularly travel between St. Louis, MO Headquarters and manufacturing facility in Red Bud, IL. Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Applied Science, or related field required. 5–7 years of experience in conduit/cable tray schedules, schematics, power one-lines, and field verification. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2014 or above required; knowledge of file structures, electrical systems, and symbols. AutoCAD 3D and AutoCAD Electrical knowledge preferred (or willingness to learn). Strong mechanical aptitude for both 2D and 3D layouts. Ability to interpret engineer/designer notes and sketches into design documents. Skilled in preparing panel layouts, schematics, conduit/cable tray schedules, and power wire drawings. Field verification and auditing experience. Ability to create neat, organized drawings that meet established standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based programs. Strong time management skills and flexibility to work occasional weekends or holidays. Ability to collaborate with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders. Work is performed in both office and field settings. Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, noise, hazardous materials, and varying weather conditions may occur. Employees must follow all safety standards and wear required personal protective equipment. Physical Demands
While performing this job, the employee will regularly: walk, stand, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required. Compensation and Benefits
