Job Description As a Process Quality Engineer, you will drive the strategic direction of front-end wafer quality across the local site and Micron’s world‑wide organization. You will support the development, alignment, and execution of long‑range strategies that enable Micron teams to meet technology requirements. Responsibilities include:
Actively monitor, control, and reduce air and surface contamination of the wafer and fab environment to protect and drive product quality improvements.
Work closely with process integration and process development to assess and control risks from integrating new exotic materials into the wafer processing environment.
Collaborate with peers locally and worldwide to establish or drive alignment of best known methods or SOPs that improve efficiency, reduce cost, and maintain or improve quality.
Lead projects that define improvements in quality, efficiency, and cost reduction, coordinating meetings and tracking follow‑up actions.
Provide effective guidance to resolve contamination issues, engaging in key problem resolution and continuous learning in data science and analytics.
Safety & Quality
Follow up on safety and quality events, working with G8D teams to contain, correct, and prevent incidents.
Complete all required safety training and conduct work in accordance with safety policies.
Perform 6S audits and submit good catches to prevent potential safety and quality issues.
Monitor area KPIs, identify improvement areas, and drive the team toward continuous improvement.
Communication & Collaboration
Collaborate with peers to align best known methods or SOPs that drive efficiency and reduce cost while maintaining or improving fab quality.
Drive the understanding of new contamination technology and techniques to ensure detection capabilities meet technical roadmaps.
Technical / Data Analysis
Review and test contamination hazards to determine risk mitigation for new materials, non‑process chemicals, and exotic materials entering the cleanroom.
Keep appraised of new analyzers and industry research.
Lead development of engineering solutions and strategies for detecting, reducing, eliminating, and controlling contamination hazards at point of control/entry/use/process.
Partner with engineering teams and PI to prioritize, define, and complete studies of the impact of AMCs in the wafer environment on yield.
Provide effective and timely guidance to resolve contamination issues.
Continuously improve abilities via internal and external education opportunities and grow skills in data science.
Project Management / Planning
Initiate, lead, and drive projects that define improvements in quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
Coordinate and lead meetings, tracking follow‑up actions.
Support AMC data collection for next‑generation processes and technologies within Fab 4 for technology transfers to production fabs.
Design and optimize the layout of contamination real‑time monitoring equipment to enhance coverage and minimize excursion risk.
Qualifications
Proficiency in data extraction, analysis, reporting, and visualization.
Self‑motivated, diligent, and able to work with minimal direction.
Strong relationship building and communication skills.
Ability to communicate complex analysis in a succinct and actionable manner.
Detailed‑oriented project planning and execution.
Desire to continuously learn and self‑improve.
Effective facilitation of meetings and project teams.
Analytical problem‑solving skills with ability to solve complex problems and address root causes.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
Preferred
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
2+ years in the semiconductor industry.
