Overview
EchoStar is reimagining the future of connectivity. Reporting to the VP of Network Engineering, the Director of Transport Services is responsible for the end-to-end design of EchoStar corporate services (including all product lines and IT), data center services, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and the automation and analytics required to deliver and support those services. The role involves defining, ordering, and operationally managing end-to-end services, spanning all connectivity elements and colocation of the network from corporate locations to regional and national data centers in private and public cloud environments. You will also manage all customer connectivity and services supporting all lines of business and brands. You will be empowered to determine how this system is automatically defined in the network and will apply artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to evaluate and improve performance. Interaction with transport and service providers is essential, including SLA management and agreement negotiations.
Responsibilities Build and lead the team to achieve objectives, mentor team members, and guide career progression
Collaborate with engineering and product teams on activities and progress
Provide technical input during software design, development, code reviews, and testing
Direct team members on development tasks and research
Manage pricing and contract negotiations
Perform transport operational management
Oversee ordering, design, and management of transport services (local connectivity, Internet Access, LAN/WAN/VPN)
Design, order, and manage data center requirements in private and public environments
Support public cloud provider integrations in network design
Qualifications 10+ years of wireline network experience; wireless experience preferred but not required
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree highly preferred
Extensive networking knowledge (OSI layers, TCP/IP)
Experience ordering circuits, working with transport providers, interconnects, numbering, and overall connectivity
Experience with transport/traffic engineering components (VoIP, data sessions, E911, IP-based technologies)
Detailed knowledge of fiber and satellite networks, optical transmission technologies, Ethernet, wave, data networks, synchronization, and microwave path design
Familiarity with telecom standards (3GPP, IEEE, ITU-T)
Deep understanding of optical networks (OTN, DWDM, ROADM, FOADM, SDH/SONET), Ethernet, data networks, DCN, and synchronization
Knowledge of SDH/SONET equipment (Ciena, Cisco, Infinera, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent)
Experience implementing OAM&P platforms (Ciena, Cisco, Juniper proNX, Northstar, Infinera, ECI)
Working knowledge of data and VoIP network architecture and traffic engineering
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range:
Compensation: $185,000.00/Year - $235,000.00/Year
