Import/Brokerage Manager
to oversee import operations, ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, and lead a high-performing team. Position Summary
The Import/Brokerage Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of import customs brokerage operations, including staff supervision, compliance, client relationship management, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) procedures, and the ability to navigate complex import regulations. Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of the import and brokerage department, ensuring timely and compliant processing of shipments Supervise and mentor brokerage and import staff, providing guidance and performance feedback Manage the preparation and submission of customs entries via ACE, ensuring accuracy and compliance Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. import regulations, tariff classifications, valuation, and other CBP requirements Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the brokerage department Coordinate with CBP, FDA, USDA, and other government agencies to resolve regulatory issues and holds Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing solutions to complex import challenges Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for department efficiency and customer satisfaction Handle escalations related to entry discrepancies, cargo delays, or compliance concerns Assist sales and account management teams with import compliance support and client onboarding Requirements
5+ years of experience in import operations and customs brokerage, with at least 2 years in a leadership role Valid U.S. Customs Broker License strongly preferred In-depth knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, and trade compliance Familiarity with ACE, AMS, and other CBP electronic systems Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Proficiency in logistics and brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, or similar) Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadline Seniority level
