Buena Vista Health & Recovery Centers Description In collaboration with the physician/medical director, assumes clinical responsibility for tasks performed within Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice. Including: taking patient's history, performing physical examinations, collaborating with the PMHNP to complete psychiatric examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnosis and provide care and management for common illnesses and disease prevention in the adult patient. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serves as the attending clinician to specified clients. Collaborates with the PMHNP to complete initial psychiatric assessments, crisis interventions, family interventions, focused crisis diagnostic assessments, assessments of capacity for consent to treatment, risk assessments, patient education, progress toward treatment goals, and discharge planning including medical, psychological, social, behavioral and developmental aspects of the consumers care, treatment, and services Assists in the admission, transfer or discharge from Buena Vista when needed Documents clients progress in the electronic medical record including all admission orders, medication orders, progress notes, and discharge orders. Oversees delivery of medication education and consent, according to established policy Orders laboratory tests according to standards of clinical practice. Reviews the health assessment completed by nursing staff, obtains a past and current medical history, and conducts a focused physical examination as indicated, according to established guidelines. Initiates contact with Primary Care Physicians and Emergency Room clinicians according to established guidelines. Assesses clients needs and guides the clinical team while managing treatment plan updates, in addition to initiating contact with Outpatient Behavioral Health Provider according to established guidelines. Reviews and utilizes all available documents from applicable referring clinicians, hospitals or crisis clinical teams. Provides necessary information to clinical team regarding inpatient utilization. Utilizes appropriate medication based on best practices. Collaborates with other personnel to ensure that each treatment modality is appropriate for the client. Works within multidisciplinary team to develop plan for the patient and their family. Participates in medical staff meetings including regional and quarterly meetings; participates in all required Buena Vista meetings; and participates in any meeting as requested by Medical Leadership. Participates in utilization review activities including performing peer to peer review sessions with payors. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement program. Makes appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies. In addition to the routine duties of detailed in NP scope of practice the in-patient, specialty NP will provide care and management for specified outpatient level of care clients and respond to emergency situations. Responsible for the management of the standards of care, quality, national certifications, and representation to key stakeholders for the programs at Buena Vista Works Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and performs up to 5 days of on call duties a week All other duties as assigned Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. In a 12-hour work day: standing/walking up to 12 hours per day Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals You must have the ability to use tools and equipment required for the position Mental Focus: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Minimum Qualifications And Skills Required 1+ year of experience in the delivery of behavioral health, addiction treatment and/or delivery of family health treatment to adults AZ RN license or RN License from a Compact State Registered in AZ as Nurse Practitioner Certification in buprenorphine administration Unrestricted DEA license Valid BLS, CPR, First Aid, and CPI, certifications, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Educational Requirements Completion of an approved nursing program allowing licensure as an RN in the state of Arizona Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Additional Notes Dual certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferred Doctorate of Nursing Practice preferred ACLS preferred
