Overview
Family Nurse Practitioner (PRN) role at Buena Vista Health & Recovery Centers. In collaboration with the physician/medical director, assumes clinical responsibility for tasks within Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice, including taking patient history, performing physical examinations, collaborating with the PMHNP to complete psychiatric examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, establishing diagnoses, and providing care and management for common illnesses and disease prevention in adult patients. Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the attending clinician to specified clients. Collaborate with the PMHNP to complete initial psychiatric assessments, crisis interventions, family interventions, focused crisis diagnostic assessments, assessments of capacity for consent to treatment, risk assessments, patient education, progress toward treatment goals, and discharge planning including medical, psychological, social, behavioral and developmental aspects of the consumers care, treatment, and services. Assist in the admission, transfer or discharge from Buena Vista when needed. Document clients progress in the electronic medical record including all admission orders, medication orders, progress notes, and discharge orders. Oversee delivery of medication education and consent, according to established policy. Order laboratory tests according to standards of clinical practice. Review health assessments completed by nursing staff, obtain past and current medical history, and conduct focused physical examinations as indicated, according to established guidelines. Initiates contact with Primary Care Physicians and Emergency Room clinicians per guidelines. Assess clients needs and guide the clinical team while managing treatment plan updates; initiate contact with Outpatient Behavioral Health Provider per guidelines. Review and utilize all available documents from referring clinicians, hospitals or crisis clinical teams. Provide necessary information to the clinical team regarding inpatient utilization. Utilize medications based on best practices. Collaborate with other personnel to ensure that each treatment modality is appropriate for the client. Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop plan for the patient and their family. Participate in medical staff meetings including regional and quarterly meetings; participate in all required Buena Vista meetings; and participate in any meeting as requested by Medical Leadership. Participate in utilization review activities including peer-to-peer review sessions with payors. Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs. Make appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies. In addition to routine duties within NP scope of practice, the in-patient, specialty NP will provide care and management for specified outpatient level of care clients and respond to emergency situations. Responsible for the management of the standards of care, quality, national certifications, and representation to key stakeholders for the programs at Buena Vista. Work Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and perform up to 5 days of on-call duties per week. All other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. In a 12-hour work day: standing/walking up to 12 hours per day. Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling. Work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals. Ability to use tools and equipment required for the position. Mental Focus: ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Minimum Qualifications And Skills Required
1+ year of experience in the delivery of behavioral health, addiction treatment and/or delivery of family health treatment to adults. AZ RN license or RN License from a Compact State. Registered in AZ as Nurse Practitioner. Certification in buprenorphine administration. Unrestricted DEA license. Valid BLS, CPR, First Aid, and CPI certifications, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Completion of an approved nursing program allowing licensure as an RN in the state of Arizona. Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Additional Notes
Dual certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferred. Doctorate of Nursing Practice preferred. ACLS preferred.
