Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse B-MC (SSN) Flexible Integrated Team (FIT) is part of Loma Linda University Shared Services (LLUSS) supplemental staffing. The FIT nurse functions out of a home department and is reassigned to a Loma Linda University Medical Center patient care department where additional staffing is needed to cover sick calls, vacations, federal and state legislative leaves or vacancies. Exhibits flexibility and readily accepts assignments where needed. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) with minimal supervision and in accordance with established Professional Practice Model (Duffy\'s Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support as appropriate. Functions in a skills mix environment and delegates tasks to unlicensed staff in accordance with scope of practice. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty. Meets qualifications, licensure, certifications, competencies and staffing requirements as defined by SSN guidelines. Exhibits refined interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. May be required to participate in on-call rotation based on department business needs. Performs other duties as needed. Responsibilities
Provide and document direct and indirect patient care, prioritizing needs and coordinating with the care team. Cover sick calls, vacations, leaves or vacancies as assigned to support department operations. Function in a skills mix environment and delegate tasks to unlicensed staff per scope of practice. Apply professional practice model concepts to clinical practice to achieve patient-centered outcomes. Maintain professionalism and high standards of customer service and safety. Participate in on-call rotation as required by department needs. Perform other duties as needed. Education and Experience
Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required. Minimum of one year of nursing experience required. CN-B eligible for promotion to CN-C per Clinical Nurse Ladder handbook and CN-C job description criteria. Completion of Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment course or equivalent required within six months of hire. Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrates basic competencies in clinical nursing and applies theoretical concepts to practice. Focus on area of specialty and population served; basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation. Professional behavior; remains calm under pressure; effective communication; computer literacy; ability to troubleshoot and operate patient care equipment. Ability to lead, supervise, teach, collaborate, follow direction; critical thinking; independent work capability; multitasking and organizational skills. Attention to detail; appropriate sensory abilities for patient care and documentation. Licenses and Certifications
Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications issued by the American Heart Association required.
