Therapeutic Behavior Specialist

(IHBS/TBS), you will be responsible for providing individualized, strength-based behavior modification services to individuals residing at a Short Term Residential Treatment Program (STRTP). The children/youth receiving these services have a serious emotional disturbance, are experiencing stressful transitions or life crises, and need additional short-term, specific support services to achieve outcomes specified in their client treatment plans. The interventions you will provide are aimed at correcting or ameliorating mental health conditions, such as harm to self or others and/or loss of home placement, that interfere with a child/youth’s level of functioning.

As an IHBS/TBS staff person, you will work with the child/youth, building skills necessary for successful functioning in the home and community so the child/youth may be able to return to a lower level of care, such as a foster home or back home. Shifts & Times Needed: (Part-Time & Full-Time) We need 2 full-time staff: M-F 2-10pm (1 at each home) and 4 part-time staff. We also need a 6-9 am M-F staff at 1 of our homes. We need another staff for M/W/F 6-9am & weekends (SAT and SUN) at 1 of our homes. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Preparing and providing individualized, behavior modification interventions for clients within the Short-Term Residential Treatment Program. Maintaining a physical presence with clients at all times, except when completing paperwork. Consistently achieving the level of service required by the position, as set by the Program Director and CEO. Attending Child and Family Team Meetings. Actively participates in crisis intervention. Completing all required chart documentation within designated time frames. Working closely with the SMH therapist while following directions given by the SMH Program Director and Supervisor/Head of Service regarding the management of cases. Facilitation of group and community meetings as needed in the home. Engaging caregivers in the treatment process and demonstrating exceptional team communication and collaboration. Actively supports staff and clients providing a “Team Approach” with open and continuous communication. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Education/Experience Education:

Must meet the following: Minimum of sixty semesters (90 quarter) units of completed college coursework, which includes units in Human Social Services (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, ABA, or Special Education) required. Experience:

Must meet the following: Two years of on-the-job experience as a volunteer, intern, or employee providing strength-based, one-on-one services to emotionally disturbed children/youth with a focus on correcting or ameliorating mental health conditions that interfere with a child/youth’s functioning, impairing their ability to live in the community. Bilingual Spanish is preferred. Licensure, Registration, Certification: Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Clearance of our background check process, which includes fingerprinting and a physical exam. Completion of CPR/First Aid/ProACT certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
