Summary
This is a full-time tenure- or non-tenure track appointment at either the assistant or associate professor rank responsible for providing didactic instruction to dental students in the areas of epidemiology, Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD), and dental public health. Principal Functional Responsibilities
Teaching:
Responsible for development and delivery of the epidemiology, evidence-based dentistry, and dental public health curriculum for dental students in the new DDS program, including development and implementation of courses and student assessments.
Research:
Lead impactful research initiatives focused on oral epidemiology, dental public health, and/or health services research. Responsible for oversight and organization of the dental student research program for interested dental students, in collaboration with department chairs, faculty, and the university’s Vice President for Research.
Service:
Actively engage in college and university committees, contributing to a collaborative and supportive academic community. Additionally, pursue membership and involvement in state and national professional dental organizations to enrich professional development and networking opportunities.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
PhD in Epidemiology or related field Qualified to be appointed as an assistant or associate professor. Must have teaching experience in a dental school at the predoctoral level.
Preferred Qualifications
DDS/ DMD or equivalent. Completion of a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH). Completion of a CODA-approved postdoctoral training program in Dental Public Health. Experience in epidemiology, dental public health, and/or health services research. Experience teaching epidemiology, dental public health, and evidence-based dentistry in predoctoral dental program. Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, or Stata). Strong background in research methodology and biostatistics. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience in grant writing and securing research funding.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.
