Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist - Acute Care

Overview
Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist - Acute Care at UVA Health. This position supports Pediatric Pharmacy Services for the 115 bed UVA Children's Hospital. The schedule is primarily day shift and will be trained to cover the following primary clinical areas: inpatient hematology/oncology/GI, general pediatrics (including endocrine, renal, cardiac and solid organ transplant), with an option to train in ambulatory hematology/oncology. Additional clinical training includes Level IV NICU and PICU, with flexibility to cover these shifts if needed. Staffing may include coverage of the pediatric satellite pharmacy and every 4th weekend alongside the pediatric team, as part of dedicated clinical coverage of the Children’s Hospital. Additional rotational shift coverage may include evenings on weekends, and night shifts after one year of service to cover vacations or vacancies of other pharmacists. Responsibilities
Provides clinical pharmaceutical care to patients.
Enhances the quality of delivery of care.
Demonstrates proficiency in Pharmacy distributive services.
Supports the educational and professional development of the Pharmacy department.
Engages in professional self-development.
Precepts pharmacy students and PGY1 and PGY2 residents; participates in team and department goal setting and achievement; develops and implements protocol and guideline updates.
Ensures safe and effective use of medications by performing medication order verification, assessing drug product selection, dosage regimen design, administration, and drug therapy monitoring; monitor inpatient and outpatient therapies and collaborate with medical staff to optimize care.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or PharmD degree required.
Experience: PGY-1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience (3 years); PGY-2 residency is preferred for specialty areas.
Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy; license required.
AHA Health Care Provider; BLS certification required.
Position Compensation Range: $55.67 - $89.07 Hourly
