Overview

The oncology pharmacy team at UVA is seeking an individual interested in working in inpatient malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant, and cellular therapy. The position involves participation in multidisciplinary teaching rounds on combined malignant hematology/BMT services and providing expert pharmaceutical care for high-risk oncology therapies, including CAR-T and other novel treatments. Responsibilities

Participate in multidisciplinary teaching rounds on one of two combined malignant hematology/BMT services. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes attending oncologists, oncology fellows, medical residents/interns, hematology/oncology pharmacists, and pharmacy learners. Own preparation, release, and coordination of chemotherapy and other anti-cancer orders for inpatient administration using Beacon, including CAR-T therapies and other high-risk therapies. Design and implement supportive care and treatment plans in Beacon for new therapies. Provide patient/caregiver medication education. Support a weekday meds-to-beds service with discharge counseling by hematology/oncology pharmacists. Counsel for new-start chemotherapy and other anti-cancer therapies, often in conjunction with the hematology/oncology fellow. Opportunities for provider and nursing education on oncology pharmacology and therapeutics. Mentor and precept PGY2 oncology pharmacy residents, PGY1 residents, and pharmacy students. Potential teaching roles for VCU School of Pharmacy Oncology Therapeutic modules and/or Oncology Elective course. Serve on Pharmacy department committees and across the health system enterprise. Participate in interdisciplinary quality improvement initiatives and academic research. Occasional rotation into the UVA Cancer Center Outpatient Infusion Pharmacy as needed. Minimum Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or Pharm. D Degree required. Experience:

PGY-1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience (3 years). PGY-2 residency is preferred for specialty areas. Licensure:

Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy license required. American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Physical Demands

Job requires sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods. Repetitive motion: typing. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull
