Overview

The developing Physician Assistant (PA) Program at North Carolina A&T State University is seeking (3) Part-Time Instructors to teach, research, advise, and perform other responsibilities as delegated by the Program Director in the Physician Assistant program. This is a temporary position that reports to the Program Director. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of master's-level Physician Assistant (PA) students. Part Time faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, engage in program assessment accreditation-related procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to (i) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in curriculum development, instruction, and/or course coordination in the didactic and/or clinical phase of the program; (ii) it is expected that the faculty member will be effective in the areas of course design, course delivery, and evaluation (iii) supervise and support physician assistant students in independent research projects. Responsibilities

Support the didactic and clinical year curriculum.

Support didactic and clinical year assessment tools and facilitate data-driven curricular change.

Support student learning activities in attaining the program's academic competency standards.

Coordinate assessment and evaluation processes and ensure feedback and action plans are communicated in a timely manner.

Support orientation of students, and aid in maintaining policies and procedures related to the pre-clinical/clinical year.

Maintain records regarding student performance, attainment of program competencies, and evaluations associated with academic performance.

Maintain a working knowledge of applications: Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Redcap, Basecamp, Box, ExamSoft, Exxat.

Maintain a working knowledge of the ARC-PA standards and ensure their compliance with the curriculum.

Participate in the admissions process (file review, interviewing, student selection).

Attend monthly Faculty Meetings and Curriculum Meetings.

Attend and participate in the annual program retreat and all program events including Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Graduation, and alumni events.

Work closely with the program director to ensure the accuracy of program reporting and perform any other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the PA Program Director.

Model professional and ethical behavior.

Additional Responsibilities

Develop curriculum, provide instruction, develop assessments, revise curricula and engage in plans for student enrichment activities and remediation.

Develop syllabi for assigned program courses.

Manage Learning Management System course shell.

Facilitation of small groups in team-taught courses and coordination of instruction.

Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.

Remain abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in professional organizations.

Conduct research in a field of knowledge and publish findings in professional venues and seek grant funding.

Collaborate with healthcare community members to improve programs and provide students with access to learning opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

Master's Degree (Doctorate preferred).

Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).

High degree of organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and evaluate competitive applicants.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated presentation skills.

Evidence of program planning and management skills.

2+ years of clinical experience.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

A PhD., EdD., DHSc, or professional doctorate in a related field with a demonstrated research record.

Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise and have pedagogical skills to teach in relevant scientific areas.

5+ years of experience in higher education.

5+ years of clinical experience.

Graduate from an accredited PA program.

Eligible for PA licensure in North Carolina.

Current NCCPA certification.
