Summary North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health Care System’s Specialty Care Service is searching for a Physician (Cardiology Non Invasive). The role contributes to quality care standards and the growth of a VA academic hospital program.
Duties
Prescribe appropriate treatments, supervise, teach, and provide consultation to other health care providers (nurse practitioners, medical students, residents, fellows). Provide consultations to medical and support staff on cardiology issues when needed.
Attend Cardiology Inpatient CCU and consult service, outpatient clinics, EKG, Stress EKG, and perform other procedures as appropriate; attend staff meetings; perform chart reviews; coordinate with other providers; document electronic health record; perform history and physicals within 24 hours of request; perform outpatient encounters; document consult notes; process new and renewal prescriptions.
Perform echocardiography, right heart catheterizations, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, Holter monitor and electrocardiogram interpretation, diagnosis and management of arrhythmias and ischemic heart disease.
Identify and assist with workup of pre- and post- LVAD and heart transplant evaluations; co-manage post-heart transplant and post-LVAD patients with VA and community hospitals.
Take an active role in patient education, decision‑making for treatment options, and serve on service level or facility committees.
Participate in quality assurance programs and assist facility in meeting established performance measures in cardiology.
Work closely with all staff to ensure compliance with National, Network, and local performance standards.
Responsible as an attending for supervising trainees (internal medicine residents and cardiology fellows) of the UF division of cardiovascular medicine.
Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases. 50‑55 days of paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and 5 days paid CME). Proficient in written and spoken English; background/security investigation.
Must pass pre‑employment physical exam; participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program.
Participation in probationary period possible; complete all application requirements.
Signed VA employment requires urinalysis screening for illegal drug use.
Required documents include identification forms, background investigation, and physical exam.
Qualifications Board certification in Cardiology. 3+ years of clinical experience or 2+ years of academic training in cardiology (interventional, electrophysiology, or heart failure). 5+ years of verified practice in the United States after non‑US residency training (if applicable).
Physical Requirements Must pass a pre‑employment physical. Light to moderate lifting (15–44 lbs), light carrying (≤15 lbs), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking up to 2 hours, standing up to 2 hours, kneeling up to 1 hour. Vision and hearing requirements as described. Mental and emotional stability, ability to work closely with others, and ability to work independently.
Work Schedule Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Schedule variations may occur based on patient care needs.
