Dental Assistant Health Care for the Homeless in Baltimore is hiring a Dental Assistant to support the daily operations of our dental clinic, focusing on infection control, patient care, and administrative tasks.

Pay Range Base pay range: $36,000 - $42,000 per year.

Overview The Dental Assistant collaborates with dental staff to provide comprehensive dentistry, maintains strict infection control standards (CDC, OSHA, Joint Commission), assists with clinical procedures, and performs administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with sterilization and infection control of dental and medical instruments.

Perform basic dental assisting duties, including operatory set‑up, radiographs, impressions, and chairside assistance for all procedures and hygiene appointments.

Apply clinical decision‑making criteria to deliver appropriate dental care.

Prioritize tasks such as lab work, supply ordering, waste disposal, and clinic organization.

Collaborate with other Dental Assistants for smooth operation and maintain effective communication.

Ensure providers have instruments, supplies, and materials during appointments.

Provide assistance to Fallsway as the primary site and travel to other agency dental clinics as needed.

Formal Education and Training

High School Diploma or GED and completion of a state‑accredited Dental Assistant Program.

Current X‑ray certification.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Evidence of ongoing professional continuing education.

Experience

One year of experience in a dental setting.

Experience in a community health center or primary care setting (preferred).

Experience working with underserved populations (preferred).

Skills

Strong organizational skills for smooth clinic operation.

Excellent communication skills, including comfort with databases and systems.

Strong interpersonal skills for working with disadvantaged and underserved populations.

Maintain confidentiality of client information.

Flexibility, team player, and ability to work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile individuals.

Bilingual in Spanish and English (strongly preferred).

Demonstrate a can‑do attitude and adaptability to challenges.
