Week 1: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu 12:30 PM - 8:30 PM; Sat 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Week 2: Sun 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM; Mon, Thu, Fri 12:30 PM - 8:30 PM
The Senior Physician Assistant (PA) provides high-quality, efficient, team-based, patient-focused care under the supervision of a physician. The role may include managing patients in urgent care, emergency, hospital, or perioperative settings. The Senior PA may first assist in surgeries, perform department-specific procedures, and mentor less experienced client. Responsibilities may require evening or weekend hours and on-call support.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive physical exams, review patient history, and compile medical data
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, ECGs)
Perform therapeutic procedures: injections, immunizations, wound care, suturing
Develop and implement patient management plans and document progress in EMR
Provide patient and family education on treatment, preventive care, and recovery
Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges as required
Assist or first assist in surgeries or departmental procedures as applicable
Round on inpatients and perform pre/post-operative evaluations
Mentor and support less experienced Physician Assistants
Collaborate with physicians, managers, and staff on performance improvement initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Physician Assistant within the last 5 years
Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
California Physician Assistant License - Required at hire
National Provider Identifier (NPI) - Required at hire
Physician Assistant National Certificate (e.g., NCCPA) - Required at hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
Additional Requirements
Fluoroscopy Permit required within 18 months (if working in Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology, Radiation Oncology)
Department-specific procedure competency may be required
Must work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced certification in specialty area (preferred)
1-2 years of Urgent Care or Emergency Department PA experience
Required Skills & Competencies
Clinical examination and diagnostic reasoning
Acute care and emergency management
Patient triage and procedural skills
EMR documentation proficiency
Communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Familiarity with safety protocols, compliance, and infection control
