Job Overview
Perform basic and intermediate computed tomography (CT) procedures under the direction of a Radiologist at High Point Medical Center – High Point, NC. Key Responsibilities
Operate CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures, including body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic and extremity studies. Obtain medical history, review requisitions and ensure exam accuracy in accordance with regulatory agencies. Position patients, select proper scanning factors, adjust parameters and provide radiation protection and safety. Prepare and administer contrast media under Radiologist direction and assist in proper scanning techniques. Post-process images, accurately identify and label images with patient name, MRU number and scan location. Maintain records, enter study information into the radiology information system and document billing codes for accurate patient charges. Identify equipment performance issues, perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures, report malfunctions and evaluate new products. Perform patient positioning and transport duties, requiring proper lifting technique. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care for patients served, including principles of growth and development over the life span. Licensure, Registration and Certification
Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by ARRT (RT) – must be obtained within 12 months. Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by ARRT – must be obtained within 12 months. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by AHA or American Red Cross – required prior to start date. Education Required
Associate Degree in Radiography or equivalent advanced training beyond high school that includes completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Cross‑sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety. Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility). Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills. Ability to work independently. Intermediate computer skills. Annual educational requirements for hospital‑based certifications must be maintained. Physical Requirements
Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, 20 lbs. over the head and 40 lbs. for 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force, perform sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Clear speech, vision and hearing; must work in a workplace with mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards and blood/body fluids; PPE must be worn as necessary. Benefits
