Overview The Medical Staff Service Credentials Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the credentialing and re-credentialing process for all providers at South Shore Health. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Medical Staff Services/Affairs, Medical Staff Leadership, and Hospital Leadership to maintain efficient and compliant systems that coordinate the credentialing lifecycle. The Manager oversees the timely credentialing, re-credentialing, and clinical privileges of all SSH providers, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of provider records and database entries, including collaboration with physician leadership to develop and revise privilege forms as needed. The Manager provides guidance and direction to the Medical Staff coordinators and other staff on special projects, and is responsible for training, mentoring, professional development, and evaluation of the credentialing team. The role frequently assesses departmental productivity and develops business strategies to ensure effective operations. The Manager ensures compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and SSH by-laws, rules and regulations, coordinates the Credentials Committee and other assigned medical staff committees, and manages agendas, minutes, reports, and follow-up. The role requires a strong understanding of FPPE and OPPE processes and serves as a positive representative of South Shore Health both internally and externally.

Job Responsibilities

Credentialing and Re-credentialing: Organize and maintain systems that coordinate the credentialing and re-credentialing process for all SSH credentialed providers; manage timely credentialing, re-credentialing, and clinical privileges; ensure integrity, accuracy, and completeness of applications; collaborate with director and chair of credentials on problem applications.

Database Management: Oversee integrity and completeness of database entries; maintain electronic provider records.

Privilege Forms: Develop new or revise current privilege forms in collaboration with physician leadership.

Staff Management and Development: Prioritize work, guide Medical Staff coordinators and other staff on special projects; train, mentor, develop, and evaluate credentialing team members; conduct regular staff educational sessions.

Operational Efficiency: Assess departmental productivity and develop business strategies to optimize operations.

Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with medical staff and hospital policies related to credentialing and education; assist in development, review, and revision of policies.

Committee Coordination: Coordinate the Credentials Committee and other medical staff committees, including agendas, minutes, reports, and follow-up.

FPPE and OPPE: Oversee, coordinate, and manage FPPE and OPPE processes and enforce deadlines.

Regulatory Compliance: Maintain knowledge of TJC, NCQA standards and SSH bylaws and policies.

Culture and Representation: Demonstrate excellence and customer service in all interactions and represent SSH positively internally and externally.

Quality Improvement and Education: Participate in quality improvement activities and mandatory education.

Other duties as needed to meet departmental needs.

Minimum Education

Completion of a graduate or undergraduate degree in healthcare or related field, or equivalent related experience.

Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional in Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) strongly preferred or willingness to achieve within 2 years.

Minimum Work Experience

At least two years of management experience in a Medical Staff Office or CVO with supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of credentialing database systems and related applications; experience with Verity/Credentialstream or similar software preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work under minimal supervision and adapt to changes; capacity to work autonomously and with healthcare teams.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and financial systems.

High standards of performance, credibility, integrity, and professional discretion with confidential information.

Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
