Licensed Practical Nurse
Provides direct patient care, meeting both psychological and physical needs of the patients in accordance with their care plan, regulatory agency and departmental guidelines. Maintains standards of nursing care, under the supervision of registered nursing personnel, in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Nursing Department and regulatory agencies. Provides work direction to Certified Nursing Assistants. Essential Job Functions Performs nursing care for assigned patients/residents per established department guidelines, policies and procedures. Handles admissions, discharges and transfers of assigned residents/patients. Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans and nursing care. Performs documentation according to established standards and procedures. Prepares, administers, and concisely, accurately, and completely records medications in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications. Receives, transcribes and carries out physicians orders. Oversees and assists with meal service. Oversees, assists and guides the work of CNAs in the daily activities. Provides coaching to CNAs and participates in the annual performance appraisal process. Assists in the orientation of new personnel when requested.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
Experience
Experience in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility environment preferred
Licenses/Certifications
Current LPN license by the Florida State Board of Nursing Current American Heart Association BLS Certification IV Certification preferred
Abilities Required
Knowledge of long term care / skilled nursing facility environment Computer literacy Self-directing. Able to work with little direct supervision.
Environment Work Conditions
Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; bio-hazardous waste; flammable, explosive gas Ability to stand or walk 90% of the day. Ability to bend and stoop frequently. Ability to do frequent lifting and turning of patients/residents per departments policies and procedures.
