A community hospital located in Towson, MD, University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center (UM SJMC) is a 218‑bed Catholic hospital with more than 700 physicians on the medical staff. It offers specialties in cardiology, cancer, orthopaedics, emergency care, obstetrics and gynecology, surgical services, diabetes, psychiatric services and wound healing.
Job Description University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center, a member of the University of Maryland Medical System, has an opening for an experienced Cardiac Surgery First Assist Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (RNFA) to join the team located in Towson, Maryland.
Compensation
$15,000 Sign‑On/Retention Bonus available for experienced candidates.
Qualifications
Proficient in first and second assist roles in all cardiac surgery cases.
Proficient in conduit harvesting.
Successful applicant would work four ten‑hour shifts per week with night and weekend call.
Successful applicant would be one of six sharing call.
Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) is required.
Certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner/Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) is required.
Maryland licensure as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is required.
Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
Ideal candidate would have two years’ experience in cardiac surgery; less experience could be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
