The Production Engineer provides technical expertise and oversight for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of manufacturing processes at the Mapleton Plant, specifically in the Derivative Plant (DP). The role involves daily monitoring of production operations, leading process improvements, supporting compliance with safety and environmental standards, and ensuring product quality. This position also plays a critical role in coordinating continuous improvement efforts, inventory control, and interdepartmental collaboration, while preparing for future leadership roles. Responsibilities Monitor daily plant operations to ensure safety, quality, environmental compliance, and production targets are met. Provide daily direction to Shift Supervisors and Operators; ensure clear communication across shifts. Maintain and update SOPs; initiate and implement Management of Change (MOC) processes. Audit process logs, investigate abnormal situations, and support resolution efforts. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for process issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Support cost control, track production consumption and variances, and contribute to campaign planning and budgeting. Analyze and optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and production KPIs. Manage product recipes, bill of materials (BOM), and SAP process/order adjustments. Coordinate operator training and qualification testing. Act as PSM Coordinator and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Maintenance, and Safety teams on projects and process improvements. Control inventory accuracy through cycle counts, material tracking, and SAP updates. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or 5–10 years of equivalent industrial experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical plant operations or process development. Strong knowledge of chemical processes, including instrumentation, equipment, piping, and control systems. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Rosemount Delta V (nice to have) or similar process control systems. Ability to lead problem-solving efforts and conduct root cause analysis (RCA). Skilled in production data analysis, cost control, and performance reporting. Familiarity with SAP for inventory management and process order tracking. Strong communication and coordination skills across departments and teams. Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
