Overview
Reports to the Director of Imaging Services and Ultrasound Coordinator. Performs diagnostic medical sonography including abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts, as well as vascular sonography. Occasionally scans in interventional radiology and surgery. Follows protocols, policies, and procedures as directed by the radiologist and/or supervising technologist. Ensures quality patient care is provided. Responsibilities
Perform ultrasound examinations according to department protocols, policies and procedures while ensuring appropriate and quality care. Obtain pertinent clinical history for the reading radiologist, communicate with referring physicians and other healthcare personnel, and provide phone reports when indicated. Explain procedures to patients and include them in the process. Prepare images on PACS and accurately complete associated worksheets or reporting templates for the reading radiologist. Apply appropriate charges. Contribute To The Overall Effectiveness Of The Department
Maintain ARDMS/ARRT(S) certification Orient new staff and students to work areas upon request Accurately badge daily clocking-ins, YTO/PTO, holidays and call (or timely completion of add-clocking in Active Staffer, with maximum of 10 per year) Clean and maintain equipment, reporting any equipment malfunctions to the Coordinator Complete other job-related duties and projects as assigned Organizational Responsibilities
Attend and participate in department meetings and be accountable for all information shared Complete mandatory education, annual competencies and department-specific education within established timeframes Complete annual employee health requirements within established timeframes Maintain license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department Consistently utilize appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self Adhere to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance Comply with established organization and department policies Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required Commitment to The Beacon Way

Knowledge, skills, and abilities normally acquired through the successful completion of ARDMS or ARRT (S). ARDMS or ARRT (S) is required to maintain position. Abdomen, OB/GYN and RVT certifications are preferred. Six months ultrasound experience is preferred. Knowledge & Skills
Familiarity with Ultrasound equipment Familiarity with human anatomy and cross-section required Limited clinical skills and sterile techniques ARDMS or ARRT (S) registry required – continuing education credits Working Conditions
Works in a hospital and patient care environment Must be able to take call and arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes of being called in Physical Demands
Requires the physical ability and stamina to walk/stand for prolonged periods, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, position/lift patients with varying weights, provide CPR, etc., to perform the essential functions of the position Seniority level
