As the Senior Microbiologist, reporting to the Director of Scientific Affairs, you will be part of a team that plays a crucial role in the food safety, quality, and microbiology programs at Conagra Brands. You will collaborate with internal departments including Quality, Engineering, Thermal Processing, Sanitation, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, Consumer Affairs, Legal & Safety, and Operations.
Position Responsibilities
Provide strategic input and direction for Conagra's food safety vision, aligning with company goals.
Promote a culture that prioritizes food safety across all levels of the organization.
Implement and oversee best practices in food safety and quality, including pathogen environmental monitoring, sampling, testing, and advanced methods deployment.
Conduct risk assessments and offer guidance during food safety incidents with appropriate mitigation strategies.
Work with Procurement, Co-manufacturing Quality, and other stakeholders to ensure adherence to food safety standards throughout the global supply chain.
Develop and maintain prerequisite programs such as GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP training to support the food safety system.
Analyze data trends and provide technical support for food safety and quality decisions.
Perform technical tasks within your responsibilities, including audits, training, and issue resolution on-site.
Design procedures and support cross-functional QA initiatives and supplier improvements.
Ensure Food Safety Plans (HACCP) are current and compliant with regulatory standards; provide technical support for compliance.
Collaborate across departments to improve efficiencies and effectiveness in food safety and quality.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field; Master’s or PhD preferred.
Minimum of 5 years industry experience.
Knowledge of HACCP and related food safety systems at the manufacturing plant level.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Technical leadership with an understanding of business needs.
Proven external leadership in food safety, including trade associations, academia, and regulatory bodies.
Experience with government regulations (FDA, USDA, CDC, etc.).
Experience managing cross-functional and technical teams.
Knowledge of statistical and analytical tools.
Willingness and ability to travel 25% to 75% as needed, independently representing Conagra.

Compensation:
Pay Range: $81,000 - $118,000
This range reflects the expected compensation; actual salary will depend on location, experience, and skills. Conagra complies with applicable minimum salary laws.
