START represents the world’s largest roster of Principal Investigators (PIs) across its eight clinical trial sites and delivers hope to patients, families, and physicians around the world. Responsibilities
Patient Care: Perform telephone triage assessments of patients on trial when necessary; provide patient education regarding participation in a clinical trial, chemotherapy/immunotherapy/investigational agent administration and potential side effects; enter patient history into the Electronic Medical Record; perform basic patient assessments including physical exams, vital signs, ECGs and other assessments; observe participants’ general well-being and document actions; provide visit summaries; coordinate patient care with internal and external staff; respond to emergency situations; provide coverage for Infusion Nurse as directed by management. Planning and problem-solving: Prepare for clinic day ensuring necessary supplies/results are available; assist with prescription refills; assist with entry and completion of quality standards for EHR/PQRS. Communicating tasks: Provide telephone triage; assist with training and mentorship of less tenured staff; complete preauthorization forms for medications and procedures; assist in the referral process to specialists; interact with patients, families and colleagues with sensitivity to cultural diversity, confidentiality and age-specific needs. Protocol management: Work with the physician to ensure necessary labs and assessments are performed and results obtained; ensure orders are completed. Technical and quality tasks: Knowledge of healthcare equipment; contribute to workflow and time management; communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED. Licensed Registered Nurse in practicing state. 1-year oncology experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, and an AHA certificate. Experience with Microsoft Office, including Teams, Excel, Outlook and Word. Preferred Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree of Nursing. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN). ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate completed within the last 5 years or within first year of employment. Clinical Trials experience. Physical & Travel Requirements
Able to perform manual tasks requiring fine motor skills. Able to lift 50 pounds. Able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods. Able to bend/stretch and to input/retrieve information from computer. Benefits
