Position Overview
Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is responsible for working closely with pregnant women, assisting in births, and providing health care to women and infants post-pregnancy. The CNM will assist with prenatal care, labor, delivery, and postpartum care, and may also provide reproductive care, treatment, and education to patients. Nature and Scope
CNMs are primary health care providers who practice in the Women’s Health setting. They provide nursing and medical services to individuals, families, and groups, diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, and emphasize health promotion and disease prevention. The incumbent must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families, as applicable. The CNM performs acts within the standard of medical practice for their specialty as allowed by their training and protocols, including collaboration with a supervising physician. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities include effective communication, teamwork, confidential record-keeping, quality assurance participation, and the ability to work autonomously in clinical settings. The role also includes patient advocacy and integration of provider, mentor, educator, researcher, manager, and consultant responsibilities as applicable. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to establish positive working relations with Provider Staff. Ability to work efficiently in a multi-physician/provider office setting. Team-oriented approach to clinic goals. Maintains accurate, legible, and confidential records. Participates in quality assurance, peer review programs, and health care outcomes evaluations. Direct nursing and/or medical assistant duties consistent with clinic protocols. Maintains high quality of care with ethical practice, continuing professional development, and clinical skills maintenance. Patient advocacy within ethical and legal standards. Combines provider, mentor, educator, researcher, manager, and consultant roles as applicable. Interprets the role of the nurse practitioner to individuals, families, and other professionals. Works autonomously and cooperatively in long-term and acute care facilities, as applicable. Complies with NRS 632 and Nevada State Board of Nursing regulations; collaborates with physician as required. Attains continued knowledge in the specialty and ongoing education, including core AMCB educational programs where applicable. Attends and participates in departmental and Renown Health meetings. Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Must have working-level English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking). Master’s prepared registered nurse (RN). Experience:
Two years minimum experience as an RN required. Six months clinical experience as a CNM preferred. Licenses:
Valid Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license (CNM) with the State of Nevada, Controlled Substance License to Prescribe, and DEA registration. Certifications:
Certified Nurse Midwife Certification from AMCB required at time of hire. BLS or ACLS required. Acceptable alternative certifications may include AHA-approved or certain online programs listed in source. Computer / Typing:
Ability to complete online learning requirements, access online forms/policies, and enroll in benefits online within 90 days. Credentialing:
Ability to credential through Renown’s Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing as applicable. This position does provide patient care. Disclaimer
