We are seeking a skilled and compassionate
Radiation Therapist
to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, ensuring precision, patient safety, and comfort throughout the process. Administers safe and accurate radiation therapy treatment. Clinical Practice Management
Ensures accurate treatment delivery and data capture, demonstrates sound clinical judgment and adheres to accurate treatment and simulation delivery. Gathers necessary setup aids and prepares room and equipment for patient. Demonstrates manual dexterity and psychomotor skills to operate complex radiation-emitting treatment units. Adapts to changes in work schedule or department workload. Visually monitors patient for unusual reactions and reports to the radiation oncologist. Explains treatment procedure to the patient, answers questions, and refers to the radiation oncologist as needed. Maintains treatment and simulation records and data.
Quality Assurance Management
Follows departmental quality assurance practices. Ensures consent forms are in the treatment record and signed before administering treatment. Monitors daily treatment records and machine QA and adjusts field placement as needed. Notifies physics/engineering of deviations and reports equipment issues. Verifies prescription, treatment plan, and amendments; attends planning clinic as assigned.
Competency Management
Maintains required clinical skills and competency assessments; participates in continuing education to stay current with techniques and licensure requirements.
Education and Training Management
Participates in practitioner and student education; orients new students/therapists; participates in monthly evaluations of students.
Adhere to departmental guidelines and institutional policies
Follows policies and procedures; completes internal variance forms within 24 hours if errors occur; adheres to attendance, dress code, and Kronos procedures; manages resources effectively; demonstrates initiative and teamwork.
Qualifications
Associate Degree Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent NM Radiography Tech (NMRTT) Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy Certified and licensed by the New Mexico Environment Department’s Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program within 30 days of hire Benefits
