Position: Certified Pharmacy Technician I
Department: Yawkey Pharmacy
Schedule: Full Time, Rotating days/evenings/nights
Location: Boston, MA
Position Summary As a BMC Outpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will be preparing and distributing medications, operating and monitoring pharmacy automated technology systems, maintaining inventory, performing daily quality assurance audits, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. You will assist in training staff under the supervision and guidance of the Pharmacy Managers and Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to help further BMC’s mission of providing exceptional care for all.
Job Responsibilities
Performs data entry tasks such as prescription transcription and entry, resolves third party insurance claim issues, and contacts providers as appropriate for the pharmacist while maintaining customer/patient confidentiality.
Prepares prescription orders in a timely manner; retrieves, counts, measures and prepares medications, solutions, ointments, and other compounds as directed. Ensures all work is checked by a pharmacist.
Supports the service needs of the pharmacist relative to pharmacy services and maximizes patient care outcomes by ensuring the prescription is dispensed to the correct patient at the point-of-sale in a professional and courteous manner.
Communicates to pharmacists and/or pharmacy technician supervisor on malfunctioning equipment and unsafe working conditions.
Job Requirements
Requires a high school diploma or GED
Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date
Must have national certification from PTCB or exCPT (or obtain within 6 months from start date)
Pharmacy students who have completed 2 years of education in an approved college/school of pharmacy are eligible for pharmacy internship and may be waived for the required experience
6 months to 1 year of work experience preferred
