Radiation Therapist Trainee role at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Department: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Oncology: Radiation (37303) Status: Part time | Hours per week: 15 | Benefits Eligible: No Pay Range: $20.00 Education/Experience: Currently in the second year of Forsyth Technical Community College's Radiation Therapy Program; One year of training in Forsyth Tech's Radiation Therapy Program Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation Responsibilities

Adheres to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment using communication, interpersonal relationships and teamwork. Prepares linear accelerators and radiation therapy equipment under supervision/direction of staff therapists and supervisors. Adheres to radiation exposure regulations and practices to ensure adequate radiation protection. Ensures accurate patient records via correct data entry, validation and archival of images. Provides age-developmental appropriate care in accordance with Age-Developmental Specific Guidelines for the age groups served when participating in patient care. Skills/Qualifications

Professional communication with physicians, nurses and other staff when discussing treatments and patient care. Clinical skills to recognize and prioritize patient needs. Adaptable to changing work schedules Work Environment

Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards; exposure to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes; frequent radiation hazards. Exposed to various electro-mechanical/power equipment; housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals; potential exposure to flammable/explosive gases. Subject to injury from moving parts, long irregular hours, potential infections and contagious diseases, varying situations, and emergencies. May be exposed to unpleasant patient/unit elements and risk of blood-borne diseases. Physical Requirements

Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach with arms, finger/hand dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing, and lifting capabilities (as per job requirements). Our Commitment to You
