The Main OR PreOp/PACU is a 38-bay department (20 PreOp, 18 PACU) at Trinity Health Ann Arbor’s Level 1 Trauma Center, with 20 operating rooms that average 50 cases/day. Our mission is to provide the highest-quality care to every patient who requires a surgical intervention; both during preparation for surgery and recovery from anesthesia. We care for both inpatients and outpatients for elective/urgent/emergent service lines including Acute Care Surgery, Colorectal, General Surgery, Cardio-Thoracic, Orthopedics, Endocrinology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Gynecology, Oncology, and Vascular; as well as off-shift Endoscopy. Our nursing staff is supported 24/7 by department-based Anesthesiologists. We are a Certified Joint Center of Excellence and a Robotic Center of Excellence. Shifts Available:

Graduation from accredited nursing program. All new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role. Current Michigan Nursing License BLS Required Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age-specific needs. Interpersonal skills to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Critical thinking skills to perform principal duties and responsibilities. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care. View patients holistically; consider physical, psychosocial, emotional, age specific, cultural and spiritual factors. Demonstrate appropriate assessment skills for identified patient populations. Demonstrate critical thinking by gathering and analyzing patient information, then responding to a patient situation. Develop, implement, evaluate and revise an individualized plan of care using evidence-based interventions and standards of care. Identify needs and begin to plan for care across the continuum considering patient and family preferences. Identify patient and family education needs. Develop and implement teaching plans based on evidence-based practice, seeking out resources when necessary. Utilize teach-back methodology to ensure learning. Identify resources to assure readiness for discharge and begin to develop plan in collaboration with other disciplines. Create an environment that promotes a positive patient experience. Communicate verbal and written information (including EMR documentation) clearly and timely. Share patient status, priority goals and interventions with colleagues and other disciplines during consultation, rounds and handoffs. Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships.
