Job Description

Responsibilities
Prepare and stain cytological specimens using established laboratory techniques. Perform microscopic examination of gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens to identify cellular abnormalities. Accurately document findings and flag abnormal results for pathologist review. Maintain specimen integrity and ensure proper labeling and documentation. Collaborate with pathologists and other lab personnel to discuss findings and clarify diagnoses. Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities. Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, safe laboratory environment. Stay current with advances in cytology and participate in continuing education.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or related field. Completion of a 12-month training program in an NCCLC-approved school of Cytotechnology. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical cytology laboratory. Strong knowledge of cytological techniques and diagnostic criteria. Familiarity with laboratory information systems and digital imaging tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT-ASCP) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Experience with both gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology. Exposure to molecular and cytogenetic laboratory workflows.
Work Environment
You will be working in a large laboratory with over 150 employees among 12 internal laboratory departments. The environment is fast-paced and innovative, supporting various service lines of the Medical Center. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $45.00/hr.
