Responsibilities
Provides quality practical nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other Healthcare Provider, within the scope of LPN licensure and FMG Scope of Practice Policy.
Assists providers with patient clinic visits, carries out routine nursing protocols, and provides clinical support and related assistance to professional medical staff.
Participates in patient care planning, assists with and/or performs therapeutic/diagnostic procedures or tests, reports nursing observations/assessments, and updates information in the patient’s electronic medical record.
Manages a demanding workload with excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients/families, multidisciplinary team members, practitioners and the public.
Prepares patients for practitioner visits, rooms patients, and records vital signs and other information while ensuring patient privacy and comfort.
Performs, or assists with, patient care, diagnostic tests and clinical procedures within the appropriate level of training and licensure; follows triage orders/protocols and refers complex or urgent situations to an RN or provider.
Assists with point-of-care testing (CLIA-Waived) and laboratory tests following established protocols/instructions.
Administers patient medications per written provider orders; tracks and logs medication usage per established policies; inventories controlled substances.
Documents procedures and interactions in the patient’s medical record; enters, pends and signs orders as appropriate.
Maintains organized exam rooms, including stocking supplies, and prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and competence in communication, understanding how culture affects communication and care delivery for defined patient populations.
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing. One year of LPN work experience in a clinic setting OR two years of acute care experience. LPN work experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
