NR Consulting is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer for an opportunity in Lexington, KY – Onsite!

Salary Range:

$90k - $150k/annum plus benefits

Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to design, integrate, and test advanced electrical systems for spaceflight and Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects. This role represents the Electrical Engineering function across the full project lifecycle — from concept ideation to post-flight review ensuring all deliverables align with organizational architecture, processes, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the Electrical Engineering lead on multidisciplinary spaceflight projects.

Design and document electrical system requirements, schematics, and experiment protocols.

Execute and validate electrical systems through detailed test planning, implementation, and result analysis.

Drive integration, build, test, checkout, and QA for spaceflight electrical systems.

Coordinate cross-functional communication to troubleshoot and resolve project challenges.

Support IRAD initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of standard electrical designs.

Research and apply NASA safety standards and regulations relevant to electrical systems.

Investigate and integrate emerging technologies and industry platforms into future designs.

Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure mission success.

Travel as needed to support customer or partner projects and launch activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

4+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Deep expertise in PCB design & development, including analog/digital electronics, high-speed and RF design, and thermal management.

Strong firmware development skills (C/C++, RTOS, microcontrollers, drivers, debugging, version control, and communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet).

Proven hands-on experience with hardware integration, testing, and troubleshooting across PCBs, sensors, actuators, and firmware systems.

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of engineering experience (4+ years in the space industry preferred).

Master’s degree or advanced technical training in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Experience in spaceflight payload design from concept to microgravity implementation.

Working knowledge of NASA electrical and safety requirements.
