Building Maintenance Associate at Rescue Mission of Utica, Inc. Location: West Street Apartment Building; may work in other buildings as needed. Job Summary

Assist Facilities Manager with operations of the Facilities Department related to the maintenance and repairs of Mission buildings, property and vehicles so that they are in the best condition possible at all times. Responsibilities

Assist Facilities Manager with repairs of Mission buildings, property and vehicles. Perform various repairs including carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical work, masonry, drywall, painting, HVAC, small engine repair, landscaping and snow removal. Inspect systems such as HVAC and fire systems. Coordinate with supervisor on physical plant project planning and implementation. Coordinate snow removal on Mission campus (snow plowing, snow blowing, shoveling) across several parking lots and walkways. Perform lawn care during spring, summer and fall, including tree trimming as needed. Maintain professional relationships with facility management subcontractors. Assist with training of volunteers as needed. Use and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times per supervisor guidance and safety guidelines. Assist Facilities Manager with OSHA compliance. Support Driving for Mission Business Orientation for approved Mission drivers. Abide by all Mission and program policies, procedures and guidelines. Attend and participate in regular meetings and trainings as requested by supervisor and HR, including annual mandated trainings. Maintain a professional and approachable attitude on the Mission campus. Electrical, plumbing, installation and removal of air conditioning units. Perform cleaning duties in the absence of housekeeping staff. All other duties as requested by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent; AAS Degree preferred. Working knowledge of architectural, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems. Experience with removal of snow through snow plowing, snow blowing and shoveling. OSHA certification preferred or willingness to attain certification. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to manage a web-based work order system preferred. Must have a clean and valid NYS Driver’s License. Enthusiastic support of our Mission Statement. Knowledge of the trades: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry; basic HVAC knowledge preferred. Promotes harmonious working relationships and effective communication. Ability to remain calm, patient and professional in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with little or no supervision and be a motivated self-starter. Physical Job Requirements

Lift/move up to 50 lbs; push/pull up to 100 lbs. Reaching overhead with tools up to 20 lbs; bending, twisting and prolonged standing. Use of hand tools, repetitive motion; use of hazardous chemicals. Use of stationary or portable machinery as needed (e.g., table saw, snow thrower, chain saw). Walking up and down stairs; typing on a computer and using a mouse. Exposure to heat and cold.
