Overview
Construction Site Manager - Solar & Renewables Construction at Turner & Townsend. The Construction Site Manager will act as the Owner’s representative on the site and have overall responsibility for the execution of all work onsite. The Construction Site Manager will support the Owner’s Site Manager in managing and providing quality control oversight for the construction project and onsite team. The role reports to the Owner Site Manager and assists the Owner Project Manager and Owner Project Controller as required.
Responsibilities
Manage the site management personnel to provide Owner’s representation oversight and quality control for all work.
Ensure the site management team completes and properly documents quality control inspections.
Work with the EPC contractor and site management team to resolve quality issues.
Monitor EPC contractor progress and report potential delays or schedule risks to critical milestones to the Owner or Buyer.
Coordinate and help implement a construction schedule recovery plan as required.
Coordinate construction completion walk-downs and the complete handover of start-up packages.
Ensure identified quality non-conformities are properly documented and resolved.
Review project documentation and verify job books are completed in a timely manner.
Perform inspections when other site management personnel are offsite.
Ensure punch list items are tracked and resolved.
Recommend acceptance of the completed project or Completion Certificates.
Report issues to the Owner Site Manager and coordinate with landowners as needed.
Ensure EPC contractor adheres to environmental plans and permit requirements; ensure BMP installation and compliance per the SWPPP.
Attend all pertinent site meetings (e.g., Plan of the Day, Monthly, Safety Meetings) and provide weekly and monthly progress reporting.
Coordinate with EPC contractor, Owner and Buyer for other meetings as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintain all quality control documentation onsite and available as required.
Serve as the point of contact for EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, operations personnel, landowners, and Owner subcontractors/consultants onsite.
Verify non-conformances and quality items are tracked to closure.
Manage the team to ensure punch list items are resolved and closed adequately.
Work collaboratively with the EPC contractor, site team, and Owner Project Management Team.
Track and report actual construction progress and identify potential schedule impacts.
Uphold safety standards and ensure safety protocols onsite are followed.
Communicate effectively and professionally; lead site management personnel with composure and candor.
SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, where applicable.
Qualifications
Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the solar construction industry.
Background in civil engineering or construction management.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Site Manager or Construction Manager role overseeing all site activities and reporting to the Project Owner.
Understanding of construction activities with working knowledge of structural and electrical construction.
Experience managing a quality control program for large construction projects.
Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and current OSHA 30 certification.
Knowledge of project controls, critical path method scheduling, and risk assessment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment; strong decision-making skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PDF document management; familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS for project status documentation.
Attention to detail and efficiency; valid driver's license.
